about

The lyrics are inspired by Luke 2:8-14. My initial concept was to write something a cappella that my church choir can sing anywhere. Then I decided to add a distant electric guitar descant (played by Tony Visconti) to represent Jesus coming to earth, and a funk bass obbligato to represent his cousin John the Baptist. I think the bible's description of John wearing camel hair clothing, sandals and leather belt may have inspired the funky bass idea. Jesus was like a rock star in his lifetime, so the high virtuoso electric guitar seemed fitting. If you listen carefully, you'll hear musical motifs of the descending scale to represent God descending, and the ascending scale to represent people leveling up by revering God, and thereby achieving peace on earth.

A psychic friend of mine told me years ago that my life's assignment is to write 3 songs and publish them. The 1st was "Song of the Eastern Star" which you'll find on bandcamp. This is song number 2. The 3rd song about Mary is already written, and hopefully will be published on bandcamp soon! If you want to be notified when that happens, please follow me on bandcmap, or send your email address to info@hsiajungchang.com Thanks for tuning in!

lyrics

Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Peace on earth, good will to all!
Glory to God in the highest!
Peace on earth, good will to all!
Glory to God in the highest!
Shepherds heard a voice in the night,
And darkness filled with godly light,
And the heavenly hosts,
And the heavenly hosts,
Sang, "Glory to God in the Highest!
And on earth, peace among men!"
"Glory to God in the Highest!
And on earth, peace among men!"
